AIESEC in University of Moratuwa: Levering Legacy to More Beyond

AIESEC in University of Moratuwa was the first ever established local committee in Sri Lanka back in 1995. It is most known for its unwavering and outstanding commitment and dedication from its young leaders. The result of the utter dedicated young talent is recognized in the blazing colours of the awards won not just at the National level but also at the International level.

Professor Dinesh Samarasinghe elected as the new Dean of the Faculty of Business

Prof. Dinesh Samarasinghe has been appointed as the Dean, Faculty of Business, with effect from 15th September 2023. He was graduated from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka securing a B.Sc. Marketing Management (Special) Degree with a First-Class Honors’ Division in 2004. He obtained both MBA and PhD in Marketing from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He joined the University of Moratuwa academic staff as a Lecturer in 2006. Currently, he is a Professor attached to the Department of Industrial Management, University of Moratuwa.

Professor Kanchana Perera wins the CVCD excellence award as the Most Outstanding Senior Researcher (MOSR) 2022

Professor Kanchana Perera from the Department of Building Economics, Faculty of Architecture, University of Moratuwa, has received the most prestigious award for the Most Outstanding Senior Researcher (MOSR) 2022 under the Field of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology offered by the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Directors Sri Lanka (CVCD).

Book Launch - Bolgoda Ecosystem: A Selected Bibliography

“The Bolgoda Ecosystem – A Selected Bibliography” is a platform that connects both published and unpublished scholarly work related to the Bolgoda region until the end of the year 2022. It presents a variety of selected references available via search engines, electronic databases, institutional repositories, catalogues with online public access, shadow libraries, etc. organized under 12 categories. This delicately groomed compilation also consists of an Author Index, Corporate Author Index, Subject Index and Title Index for the convenience of referencing.

Dr. Prabod Dharshana Munasinghe won the 2023 Emerald Literati Award

In a remarkable achievement, Dr Prabod Dharshana Munasinghe, a senior lecturer in the Department of Textile and Apparel Engineering, has been honoured with the Outstanding Paper award at the 2023 Literati Awards. His award-winning article, titled "An Investigation of the Mass-Market Fashion Design Process," was published in the esteemed Journal, Research Journal of Textile and Apparel.

Ms. Vijita de Silva Research Award has recognized the impact of “Environmental Awareness on Bolgoda Ecosystem”

Mrs. Thushari Seneviratne, a Senior Assistant Librarian of University of Moratuwa has won “Ms Vijita de Silva Research Award” for her collaborative initiatives on enhancing the awareness of Bolgoda environments. This esteemed award is presented annually by the Sri Lanka Library Association, acknowledging outstanding research, meritorious contributions, and innovative initiatives. It was presented to Mrs. Thushari at the Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Library Association, held on June 30th, 2023, at the Foundation Institute in Colombo.

International research training event on ‘Tackling climate change as an underlying disaster risk driver’ at the University of Huddersfield-UK, funded by ERASMUS+

The Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction (CCA-DRR) programme coordinated by the Global Disaster Resilience Centre (GRDC), University of Huddersfield-UK has organized a training and networking event to establish a research roadmap on ‘Tackling climate change as an underlying disaster risk driver’, collaborating with eight Sri Lankan universities. The event is held from 26th June to 7th July 2023 in the UK and three academics from the University of Moratuwa, Prof. Indrika Rajapaksha and Ms. Kalpanee Jayatilake from the Department of Architecture and Prof. Lalith Rajapakse from the Department of Civil Engineering, are participating in the event.

Visit from RUDN University's Institute of Environmental Engineering Strengthens Collaboration with University of Moratuwa

On June 13, 2023, the University of Moratuwa welcomed Dr. Anna Popkova, Deputy Director for International Affairs at the Institute of Environmental Engineering of in Russia. Dr. Popkova's visit will be a significant milestone in strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.
