Global Rankings for Bachelor of Landscape architecture {BLA (hons)}- Comprehensive Design Project, CDP.


The proposed National Geo Monumental park at Alagalle Mountain range-Kandy by Nipun Hettiarachchi (2017 Batch) titled 'A MOVING STORY' has won the Award of Excellence, in World Landscape Architecture Awards (WLA Awards) student category, surpassing other World recognized Landscape academic institutions, including University of Edinburgh, Harvard GSD, University of British Columbia. This exceptionally innovative design was published in the World Landscape Architecture Magazine- WLA Awards special edition on April 17th, 2018. Our Congratulations to Nipun Hettiarachchi who has brought recognition to the BLA Programme, Department of Architecture, University of Moratuwa and Sri Lanka.

(“A Moving Story” -Sequences of Spaces through geo-Forms)


    'The project highlighted, an approach for appreciating nature in form of its natural state. Making an awareness of natural processes through a sequence of spaces to blend man and geo character, based on the UNESCO Geo Park concept.  The Project Expands the scope to give an awareness on Earth processes, working with communities and giving them opportunities to develop an unbreakable bond with significant geological processes, features, time, celebrating  historical themes to provide an awareness for mitigating extreme geo-disaster events through learning  by experience' .  'Moving Story' also won 'Inhabiting Nature', A competition for Architectural students 


Nipun Hettiarachchi was awarded the First place in the student category in the 5th International design competition organized by Aditya College of Architecture-Mumbai India, in December 2017. His Comprehensive landscape design project 'A moving story' was selected from over 300 Entries from 22 Countries around the globe. Nipun received his award at the Mumbai Award ceremony representing University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
