Faculty of Business University of Moratuwa emerged champions at the very first Sri Lanka Forum of Junior Business Economists (SLFJBE) organized by the Department of Business Economics University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with the Department of Business Economics University of Colombo on 15th August 2019. University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Business achieved this victory by competing with 13 universities, including 2 foreign universities.

SLFJBE was a promising inaugural project of SLBESA for the prevailing need of up surging interest among undergraduates to contribute for the economic development while creating a platform to share learnings. It envisions to create a hub of expertise in business, management and economics on one stage leading to a productive discussion over the issues to be addressed for a sustainable future. As the keynote speaker central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy addressed the gathering on strengthening the external sector to achieve a 7% economic growth.

Hashan Senaratne and Harindee Wickramarachchi representing Faculty of Business, University of Moratuwa won the 1st place for the panel discussion and quiz competition respectively. Damith Priyadarshana, Rasa Sudarshini, Dimithri De Meraal, Rebecca Weragoda, Jayani Gawarammana, Nisali Tillekeratne, Rusika Kurukulasuriya and Suharda Silva were among the students who represented Faculty of Business, University of Moratuwa.
