The CCNA Security course provides a next step for individuals who want to enhance their CCENT-level skill set and help meet the growing demand for network security professionals. The CCNA Security curriculum provides an introduction to the core security concepts and skills needed for the installation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of network devices to maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data and devices.

Course Objective

CCNA Security helps students develop the skills needed for entry-level network security career opportunities and prepare for the CCNA Security certification. It provides a theoretically rich, hands-on introduction to network security, in a logical sequence driven by technologies.

The goals of CCNA Security are as follows:


● Provide an in-depth, theoretical understanding of network security
● Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and support network security
● Provide an experience-oriented course that employs industry-relevant instructional approaches to prepare students for entry-level jobs in the industry
● Enable students to have significant hands-on interaction with IT equipment to prepare them for certification exams and career opportunities

Upon completion of the CCNA Security course, students will be able to perform the following tasks:


● Explain network threats, mitigation techniques, and the basics of securing a network
● Secure administrative access on Cisco routers
● Secure administrative access with AAA
● Implement firewall technologies to secure the network perimeter
● Configure IPS to mitigate attacks on the network
● Describe LAN security considerations and implement endpoint and Layer 2 security features
● Describe methods for implementing data confidentiality and integrity
● Implement secure virtual private networks
● Implement an ASA firewall configuration using the CLI
● Implement an ASA firewall configuration and VPNs using ASDM
● Test network security and create a technical security policy

CCNA Cybersecurity Operations

 

The Cisco CCNA® Cybersecurity Operations (CyberOps) course is designed for Cisco Networking Academy® students seeking career-oriented, entry-level security analyst skills. Target students include individuals enrolled in technology degree programs at institutions of higher education and IT professionals who wants to pursue a career in the Security Operation Centre (SOC).

Course Objectives

The CCNA Cybersecurity Operations curriculum provides an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed for a Security Analyst working with a Security Operations Center team. It teaches core security skills needed for monitoring, detecting, investigating, analyzing and responding to security events, thus protecting systems and organizations from cybersecurity risks, threats and vulnerabilities.

University of Moratuwa-Cisco Networking Center has designed a unique course structure to meet all the objectives through 2 different tracks.

Fast Track - Cybersecurity Essentials + CCNA CyberOps

Regular Track - 2 Modules in CCNA + Cybersecurity Essentials + CCNA CyberOps

Cybersecurity Essentials

Cybersecurity Essentials covers foundation knowledge and essentials skills in all security domains in the cyber world - information security, systems security, network security, mobile security, physical security, ethics and laws, related technologies, defense and mitigation techniques use in protecting businesses.

CCNA CyberOps

CCNA Cybersecurity Operations 1.0 covers knowledge and skills needed to successfully handle the tasks, duties, and responsibilities of an associate-level Security Analyst working in a Security Operations Center (SOC). Upon completion of the CCNA Cybersecurity Operations 1.0 course, students will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Explain the role of the Cybersecurity Operations Analyst in the enterprise.
  • Install virtual machines to create a safe environment for implementing and analyzing cybersecurity threat events.
  • Explain the Windows Operating System features and characteristics needed to support cybersecurity analyses.
  • Explain the features and characteristics of the Linux Operating System.
  • Analyze the operation of network protocols and services.
  • Explain the operation of the network infrastructure.
  • Classify the various types of network attacks.
  • Use network monitoring tools to identify attacks against network protocols and services.
  • Use various methods to prevent malicious access to computer networks, hosts, and data.
  • Explain the impacts of cryptography on network security monitoring.
  • Explain how to investigate endpoint vulnerabilities and attacks.
  • Evaluate network security alerts.
  • Analyze network intrusion data to identify compromised hosts and vulnerabilities.
  • Apply incident response models to manage network security incidents.

With all four curriculum, students get the knowledge about core security skills needed for monitoring, detecting, investigating, analyzing and responding to security events, thus protecting systems and organizations from cybersecurity risks, threats and vulnerabilities.

CCNA Cybersecurity Operations is a hands-on, career-oriented course with an emphasis on practical experience to help students develop specialized skills to sucessfully handle the tasks, duties, and responsibilities of an associate-level Security Analyst working in a Security Operations Center (SOC).

Course Duration:

Fast Track - 100 hrs

Regular Track - 240 hrs

  • Weekend Batch - (Saturday 1.30 pm -  5.30 pm)**

    CCNP Routing and Switching

     

    Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching certification validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions.

    COURSE OBJECTIVES

    CCNP helps students develop the skills needed to succeed in IT-related degree programs and prepare for the Cisco CCNP certification. It provides a theoretically rich, hands-on learning experience covering advanced routing, switching, and troubleshooting skills.

    The goals of the CCNP curriculum are as follows:

    • Provide an in-depth, theoretical overview of advanced routing and switching and troubleshooting
    • Equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and support complex enterprise networks
    • Provide an experience-oriented course that employs industry-relevant instructional approaches to prepare students for professional-level jobs in the industry
    • Enable students to gain significant hands-on interaction with IT equipment to prepare them for certification exams and career opportunities 

    There are three (03) modules in the CCNP R&S Version 7.1 curricular.

    IMPLEMENTING IP ROUTING (CCNP ROUTE)

    Students who complete CCNP ROUTE will be able to perform the following tasks:

    • Explain complex network requirements and design models for implementing advanced routing services in an enterprise network
    • Implement EIGRP and OSPF in an enterprise network
    • Implement various mechanisms for controlling routing updates and traffic
    • Implement BGP to allow an enterprise network to connect to an ISP
    • Describe a basic implementation for branch office and mobile worker connectivity
    • Describe and configure IPv6 addressing in an enterprise network 

    IMPLEMENTING IP SWITCHING (CCNP SWITCH)

    Students who complete CCNP SWITCH will be able to perform the following tasks:

    • Implement, monitor, and maintain switching in the Cisco Enterprise Campus Architecture
    • Implement VLANs in campus networks
    • Configure and optimize high availability and redundancy on switches to provide Layer 3 redundancy
    • Describe and implement LAN security features
    • Plan and prepare for advanced services in a campus infrastructure

    MAINTAINING AND TROUBLESHOOTING IP NETWORKS (CCNP TSHOOT)

    Students who complete CCNP TSHOOT will be able to perform the following tasks:

    • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot a complex network
    • Plan and document the most common maintenance functions in complex enterprise networks
    • Develop a troubleshooting process to identify and solve problems in complex enterprise networks
    • Select tools that best support specific troubleshooting and maintenance processes in large, complex enterprise networks
    • Practice maintenance procedures and fault resolution in switched and routed environments
    • Troubleshoot network services
    • Troubleshoot network performance issues
    • Troubleshoot wireless connectivity, VoIP, and video
    • Practice maintenance procedures and fault resolution in a secure infrastructure
    • Practice maintenance procedures and fault resolution in a complex environment 

    FURTHER TRAINING

    In addition to all of above, students will get the opportunity to join with online public technical sessions (Webex) as well as institutional Webex sessions organized by University of Moratuwa - Cisco Networking Center.

    Prerequisites

    • Valid CCNA Routing & Switching career certificate (You have to publish your credentials as an evidence) OR
    • Valid CCNA R&S module certificated issued through the Cisco Networking Academy (The instructor should authorized the student course completion)

    Course Duration:

    • Implementing IP Routing  (CCNP ROUTE) - 80 hrs
    • Implementing IP Switching (CCNP SWITCH) - 80 hrs
    • Maintaining and Troubleshooting IP Networks (CCNP TSHOOT) - 80 hrs

      Course objectives

      The CCNA curriculum in Cisco Networking Academy is designed for students who are seeking entry-level jobs in the ICT industry or hope to fulfill prerequisites to pursue more specialized ICT skills. CCNA provides extensive coverage of networking topics, from fundamentals to advanced applications and services, with plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on practical experience and develop career skills. In each course, students learn technology concepts with the support of interactive media and apply and practice this knowledge through a series of hands-on and simulated activities that reinforce learning.

      This course teaches learners how to install, operate, configure, and verify a basic IPv4 and IPv6 network, including configuring a LAN switch, configuring an IP router, identifying basic security threats, understanding redundant typologies, troubleshooting common network issues, connecting to a WAN, configuring EIGRP and OSPF in both IPv4 and IPv6, understanding wide-area network technologies, and getting familiar with device management and Cisco licensing.

      Course Duration: 200+ hrs
