ERE Success in Winning a Competitive Research Award to Explore Rare Earth Element(REE) Potential in Sri Lanka

Group of academic staff researchers of the Department has won a competitive grant under Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development Operation (AHEAD) for the proposal titled Potential of Rare Earth Elements (REE) in Sri Lankan Onshore and Offshore Terrains and Development of Extraction Techniques.

Under this grant, the department is eligible to purchase an Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) capable of detecting metals and several non-metals at concentration levels in parts per trillion level. This will boost the analytical capacity of the department and help further development of mineral processing and value addition related projects in the department.
