IoT Specialist course, focuses on identifying, designing, prototyping, and presenting an IoT solution that securely solves a current business or social problem. This curriculum is designed for Cisco Networking Academy® students who are seeking to acquire the foundational skills and knowledge prominently required across the emerging digitization technologies using a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
In this course, students will explore the three basics insights of the Internet of Things: Why do we want to connect everything? What do we want to connect? And how do we connect everything?
A typical IoT solution includes sensors, local analytic abilities, network connections, and the ability to process and analyze the gathered data. Overall it is important to understand how a product or a process or a business overall can be improved with the instrumentation and the collection of data. It all starts with the connection of a sensor to a gateway and from there to the network and the cloud.Thus the ability to extract data and using data analytics techniques to gain insights increases employability.
There are three NetAcad (03) courses have embedded to this program.
- Connecting Things - to learn practical approaches in IoT
- IoT Security - to learn the security aspects of IoT
- Big Data & Analytics - to learn IoT related data analysis
This course explores all the stages related to identifying a problem that is solvable by IoT. It then discusses designing and building an IoT system to solve that problem. Intended for anyone who has an interest in learning how to design and build IoT devices, this course includes activities that expand on the course material. Upon completion of this course, the end-of-course survey, and the end-of-course assessment, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion.
The enormous increase of connected IoT devices is not only enabling the digitization of industries, but also increases the landscape of possible security threats. This course provides the learner with introductory skills to perform Vulnerability and Risk Assessments on IoT solutions in a specific business context. Students who complete the IoT Security course will be able to assess, research, and provide risk mitigation strategies for common security vulnerabilities in IoT systems. At the end-of-course assessment, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Big Data & Analytics
The transformative element of any IoT system is the data that can be collected from it. Thus the ability to extract data and using data analytics techniques to gain insights increases employability. Students will learn how to use Python data libraries to create a pipeline to acquire, transform and visualize data collected from IoT sensors and machines. At the end-of-course assessment, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion.
