October 2015 Dr. Indrika Rajapaksha delivers an invited lecture at the AASSA International Symposium, Daejeon, Korea

Dr Indrika Rajapaksha, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, delivered an invited lecture on “Urban Built Environment and Health”, at the International symposium of Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) on “Global health issues in Asia” held at Daejeon, Korea in October 2015. This symposium was jointly organized by the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) and the Inter Academy Partnership (IAP).

In this lecture Dr Rajapaksha presented emerging health issues of prevailing office design practice in Sri Lanka, primarily focusing on the rising national health issue on Noncommunicable Diseases. Although the majority of presentations on health were focused on Cancer, Diabetes, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, this presentation inspired the audience on urbanization and built environment as a catalyst for the dilemma in health and well-being of a developing Asian metropolis.
