Rajitha Katugaha and Sanduni Lenadora presented at Kyoto Conference on Arts, Media and Culture 2023 (KAMC2023)

Archt. Rajitha Katugaha (Lecturer) and Ms. Sanduni Lenadora (Alumni/ Visiting Lecturer) of our Department, presented their research paper presentations at the recent Kyoto Conference on Arts, Media and Culture 2023 (KAMC2023), held at Kyoto Research Park, Kyoto, Japan from 10th to 13th October 2023 organised by the The International Academic Forum (IAFOR).

Hasini Sambhashini from the B. Arch 17' Batch participated in the KVD Forum organized by CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India

We are delighted to announce that Ms. Hasini Sambhashini from the B. Arch 17' Batch of the Department of Architecture, University of Moratuwa participated in the KVD Forum organized by CEPT University, held from 11th to 13th August in Ahmedabad, India.  

The Kurula Varkey Design Forum is a student-led platform that brings together students from various architectural schools across South Asia to foster discussions on current architectural discourse, with the theme this year being "The Role of Beauty in Architecture".

Sachith Vithanage presented his research at 20th Asian Congress of Architects and ARCASIA Student Jamobree 2023

We are thrilled to share that Sachith Vithanage, an undergraduate from the B. Arch '19 Batch (Level 4) of the Department of Architecture, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka participated at the prestigious 20TH ASIAN CONGRESS OF ARCHITECTS (ARCASIA ACA 20) from September 17th to 22nd, 2023, on Boracay Island, Philippines.

Sachith also had the distinct honour of being chosen as the Sri Lankan student representative for the ARCASIA Student Jamboree 2023.

Building with Bamboo - Workshop 1

A bamboo workshop was organized for the Level One students of the Department of Architecture, University of Moratuwa. Archt.Thilina Wijekoon and Level Four students who interned under Archt. Chiko Wirahadi in Bali last year were the resource persons for the workshop.
The students had a hands-on learning experience on bamboo structures construction.

Mr. Dinesh Malawarachchi, the Head of the “Rathna Udagama” carpentry school in Galle also participated in the knowledge-sharing programme.

Galle Fort is one of the most celebrated UNESCO Living Heritage sites in Sri Lanka. It is one of the finest places to experience a range of architectural styles including Dutch-Ceylon hybrid architecture, British architecture, Art Deco, and post-colonial architecture, coexisting in a harmonious spatial composition. However, the Fort is also experiencing dramatic transformations in its social, and cultural phenomena due to popular architectural trends.

Congratulations to Iwanthi Dharmapala

Iwanthi Dharmapala (B.Arch Level 4) won the silver award at AYDA Awards 2021 organised by Nippon Paint. Her project was dedicated to addressing these industry challenges through her ‘Timber Craft Center’ project.

RIBA Re-validation of the B.Arch (Hons) Degree programme of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka_2023

The B.Arch (Hons) Degree programme was given validated for the next tenure of five years without conditions.
