MSc / PG Diploma in Textile and Clothing Management

The programme provides a broad range of advanced textile technology skills and management skills needed to manage highly dynamic manufacturing and marketing organisations of the textile and apparel sectors, meeting the challenges of the industry more effectively and efficiently. The programme focuses on imparting the knowledge and know how on recent developments taking place on the frontiers of textile engineering and apparel manufacturing.

• Supply Chain Management

 

Optional (Textile) :

• Textile Fibers, Yarns and Non-woven

• Testing and Evaluation of Textiles

• Coloration and Finishing of Textiles

• Fabric Technology and Uses (Woven and Knitted)

• General Clothing Technology

• Clothing Production, Planning and Control

 

Course Delivery:

Each module in the course will include lectures and continuous assessment. The course is designed to be intensive and suit the busy work schedules of the industry personnel. Course will be conducted by university academics and senior industry personnel. The course is designed to be of practical value to the student, while imparting essential theory. Syndicates, case studies and presentations will be integrated into the programme. Guest lectures and fi eld visits may be arranged from time to time. Courses of this nature at this level are by necessarily intensive and require a high level of commitment on the part of the student. Students are required to organise their time for their studies and to meet the project deadlines

 

Entry Requirement:

The Degree of Bachelor of Science (Engineering) from the University of Moratuwa specialising in Textile and Clothing Technology;

OR

Any equivalent degree specialising in textile and clothing technology or any other degree of four years of duration in engineering, science or design and one year of experience;

OR

Any other bachelor’s degree of three years of duration in any other relevant field from a recognised university and a minimum of two years of experience;

OR

Associate membership or the graduateship of a recognised professional institute in a relevant field and a minimum of one year of experience after obtaining such membership or

graduateship.

 

Duration:

MSc: Twenty one months

(part-time)

PG Dip: Fifteen months

(part-time)

(Conducted on one full Saturday and one or two weekday evenings)
