This stream offers three programs; Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, M. Sc. in Landscape Design and the Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Design.


Bachelor of Landscape Architecture

This is a four year full time undergraduate programme. The Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree programme will commence from 2012 University undergraduate intakes.

 

Accreditation

The graduates of this study programme with experience will be eligible to apply for the corporate membership of Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape Architects (SLILA) which has membership of the International Federation of landscape Architects(IFLA).

 

Eligibility

The entry to the programme of study is through GCE advanced Level examination basedon the Z score. Please refer to the University Grant Commision yearly addmission criteria circular for accurate details.

M. Sc. in Landscape Design

This is a two year part time postgraduate programme. 

The main subject areas are;
• Ecology and natural Resources
• Plant Sciences 
• Landscape History
• Landscape Technology
• Forestry and Hydrology 
• Geomorphology

The students are eligible to receive PG Diploma at the end of the first year.

During the second year the students have to do a Dissertation and a Comprehensive Design project.

M.Sc in Landscape Design :  Two Years 
Same curriculum as for the Postgraduate Diploma plus a Comprehensive Landscape Design Project and a Dissertation.

 

Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Design

Succesful completion of the first year of the above program leads to a Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Design.

Postgraduate Diploma : One Year 
Taught courses plus studio work, assignments, seminars and field visits. All academic work will normally be conducted on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.

 

Eligibility Requirements

Generally c andidates applying for the PG Diploma in Landscape Design leading to Master of Science in Landscape Design shall have a Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Town Planning, Science, Fine Arts or Associate Membership of a relevant professional institute acceptable to the Facult yof Architecture is required to enter into this programme of study.
