The Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of University of Moratuwa, established in year 2000 is the entity devoted to provide career guidance services to the students of the University of Moratuwa and is one of the leading professional development movements within the University. The Career Guidance Unit conducts a number of professional development projects every year in collaboration with the University administration and other academic departments with the sole intention of improving the soft skills and employability of the students passing out from the University.

The unit physically located near the University library is equipped with all the essential equipment and facilities required to conduct successful career guidance projects and is driven by a director and a dedicated staff. The Career Guidance Unit mainly focuses on improving the communication skills, leadership skills and general administration skills of the students. The unit is currently directed by Prof. J.A.K.S. Jayasinghe of the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering.
